Verten ("Verten", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Verten job marketplace and related services (the "Platform"), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, password, role (candidate or employer), and organization details for employers.

Profile and application data: resumes, work and education history, skills, certifications, video introductions, salary expectations, job postings, and application activity.

Usage and device data: log data, pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device information, and cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

Payment data: subscription and billing details, which are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to operate and improve the Platform, including to: create and manage your account; power job matching, resume assessments, and other AI-assisted features; connect candidates and employers; process subscriptions and payments; communicate service and account messages; provide support; maintain security; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal Basis & Consent

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent or as otherwise permitted or required by law. By creating a profile and applying to roles, you consent to the sharing described in this Policy. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us — though doing so may limit your ability to use certain features.

4. How We Share Information

With employers and candidates: when a candidate applies to or is matched with a role, relevant profile and application information is shared with that employer. Employers' public postings are visible to candidates.

With service providers: we share information with trusted processors who help us run the Platform, including Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Stripe (payments), SendGrid (email), Twilio (messaging), and Microsoft Azure and Anthropic (cloud hosting and AI processing). These providers are permitted to use personal information only to provide services to us.

For legal reasons: we may disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Verten and its users.

5. Verten Portal & Verten Academy

Verten operates a shared account across the Verten job portal and Verten Academy. Where you use both, certain profile information — such as course completions and certifications — may be shared between the two so that, for example, your learning achievements can appear on your candidate profile.

6. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process or store information outside your province or outside Canada. Where information is transferred to another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protection for your information wherever it is processed.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, and thereafter as required to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, update your profile, and manage communication preferences. To make a request, contact us at support@verten.ca. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
